Tabtech M009S Android Tablet PC
The Tabtech M009S is one of the cheapest tablet PCs available at around the £80 mark. It has received good user reviews on Amazon and is about as good as you can expect at this price.
Features:
7-inch tablet computer.
Bulky design but fairly light.
Android 2.2 and Android Market is directly on the device for downloading apps and games.
It has a resistive touch-screen.
An adapter to give you USB ports and a wired Ethernet internet connection.
2GB of memory.
MicroSD card slot.
Compromises: It's only £80 and this means it's a bit slow to respond at times (the processor is weak compared with more expensive tablets) but the performance is generally ok - websites load fairly quickly over Wi-Fi and it deals with Android games designed for smartphones. If you want to find out more details then have a look at this Tabtech M009S tablet PC review. In summary, apart from the processor issue, the touch-screen is also a little weak. It needs a firm tap to make it work and isn't very bright. It has Flash capabilities but the processor doesn't really deal with the Internet video in this format so you need to use the pre-installed YouTube application if you want to watch web video.
Opinion: Overall, you get what you pay for but it's good for the price and could provide a good first tablet for anyone.

Advent Vega Android Tablet PC
The Advent Vega is a substantial step up in price from the Tabtech M009S as it's almost £200. However, for this extra money you get a much improved experience with a far more responsive screen and a processor that handles Android apps and games much better.
Features:
10.1-inch capacitive touch screen - this is much more responsive to taps and swipes that the resistive screen type.
Android 2.2 operating system
Stronger processor so much quicker for browsing the web, plays high-definition video and more advanced games
Flash compatibility – the processor is stronger so can play web video
WebCam
You can output high-definition video to a TV
MicroSD port & USB port.
Compromises: This is still only Android 2.2 when the new premium Android tablets are running Android 3.0, an operating system specifically designed for this format. The processor is good for this price but you sometimes experience delays as it struggles to cope with more intensive tasks. There's a more complete analysis of it's capabilities if you check out this Advent Vega Tablet PC review. The Android Market isn’t installed directly on the device so if you want access to the full range of Android apps that could run on this tablet, you'll need to manually install it.
Opinion: Overall, this is a strong tablet at this price. If you want to use it to it's full potential then you will have to manually load software on but that's fairly easy to do and you can search on the web for instructions. Be aware though that this can void your warrantee

Archos 70 Internet Tablet PC
The Archos 70 is the next step up from the Tabtech M009S and Advent Vega. It's just over the £200 mark. Here you get the next level of features.
Features:
7-inch tablet comes with Android 2.1 installed - although a free upgrade to Android 2.2 is available.
It has a capacitive touch-screen with a decent resolution
It has excellent media playback so will deliver high-definition video
Storage space delivers up to 250GB - plenty of space to store your media
1 GHz Powerful processor
USB port
MicroSD port
Compromises: Given you're now in the higher £200 bracket, Android 2.1 is an outdated version of Google's operating system. You will also need to manually install the Android Market to download apps directly onto the Archos 70. It also only provides the ability to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi so no option to use the 3G network.
Opinion: Another strong tablet particularly suited to customers who want to watch video and hold music on their tablet PC.
